Funimation Launches Streaming App on Nintendo Switch
Enjoy Anime Anytime, Anywhere
Funimation has exciting news for anime enthusiasts: starting Tuesday, December 15, their streaming app will be available on the Nintendo Switch. This means you can now indulge in your favorite anime titles without having to pause your gaming sessions. With just a click on the Funimation app, you can explore an extensive library featuring popular series such as My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan: Final Season, and One Piece. Additionally, fan favorites like Naruto and Megalobox, along with timeless classics such as Cowboy Bebop, are all at your fingertips.
Availability Across Regions
The Funimation app is currently accessible in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand its reach to countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Mexico, and more in the near future. This launch marks Funimation as not only the sole anime streaming service available on Nintendo Switch but also positions it as one of only two subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) apps offered on this platform.
Expanding Access to Anime Fans
In addition to its debut on Nintendo Switch, Funimation is also available across all major gaming consoles—including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X—launched just last month. Kaliel Roberts, Chief Product Officer at Funimation stated: “We will always go where the community wants their anime.” He emphasized that their commitment lies in listening to fans across every platform.
A Tailored Experience for Anime Lovers
Roberts further explained that both teams worked collaboratively towards a shared vision of creating an engaging app experience specifically designed for anime fans. The result is a compelling interface that enhances user interaction while providing easy access to beloved content.
Continued Growth and Exciting Releases Ahead
This year has been monumental for Funimation as they expanded their catalog through partnerships with VIZ Media and Aniplex—adding numerous fan-favorite titles alongside classic series. They also hosted their first virtual convention—FunimationCon 2020—and recently launched services in Brazil and Mexico.
Looking ahead into next year, fans can anticipate the theatrical release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train across theaters in the U.S., Canada, and other regions worldwide—a testament to Funimation’s dedication to delivering top-tier content.
